We are here for you. The CoronaVirus, or COVID-19, is making a lot of people feel a little frightened during this time of social distancing. While you're inside, we’ve compiled some resources for you to indulge in, and hopefully bring a little positivity and happiness into your household.

  • Sundance Collab: Free classes - Access Sundance Collab’s extensive collection of content crafted and curated for creators and filmmakers, participate in their public forums and programs, and enter their online monthly Challenge, all for free. 
  • D.C. Environmental Film Festival: Virtual Festival - With the cooperation and support of DCEFF’s filmmakers, DCEFF is excited to be able to offer the public a selection of their 2020 Festival schedule — most of which are absolutely free to stream online. They have a whole selection of quality, amazing films from all over ready to view! See the full list here.
  • Giant Screen Films: Three Documentary Films for Streaming - Giant Screen Films are making three documentary films available for streaming at no cost through June 15. GSF says, “These films will hopefully provide meaningful informal learning opportunities for students and viewers of all ages, including those in under-served communities, and are supplemented by educational guides offering fun and informative activities to reinforce key learning concepts.” Screen Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs, Dinosaurs Alive!, and Wild Ocean online.
  • NY WILD: Films to Stream - New York WILD is starting a Curated Film Club, with more curated lists coming soon! All are available to stream or rent online. Check out the full list here. 
  • If Not Us Then Who: Films to Screen - As a US registered charity, If Not Us Then Who is a 501(c)(3) that supports a global awareness campaign highlighting the role indigenous and local peoples play in protecting our planet. They've got a lot of films to screen available online!
  • PBS NATURE: Resources for Parents and Teachers - Looking for inspiration, boredom-relief, or lesson plans to keep kids busy? Here are some PBS NATURE resources for children of all ages, complete with full episodes and video lessons! (And from PBS KIDS For Parents: How to Talk to Your Kids About Coronavirus.)
  • International Wildlife Film Festival - In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the 43rd IWFF will go digital. Their vision is to create a virtual festival experience the week of April 18-25. Programming will be posted in early April, including:
    • 45+ streaming films with a 1-7 day viewing window for through wildlifefilms.org. Free to the public.
    • Streaming films will be supplemented with educational links, articles, and other relevant resources on species or conservation efforts.
    • Online featured films and events are available to IWFF pass holders, passes may be purchased on a sliding scale in early April.
    • Featured Films will include online extras such as behind-the-scenes footage, film crew stories, live Q&As, educational videos about specific species and will be scheduled with a start time to encourage collective festival-like viewing experiences.
  • AAAS: Paperless Media - Over the next 8-week period, AAAS will be building on the paperless media program launched at the last Annual Meeting. Through exploring different scientific podcasts, video series, and documentary films, AAAS hopes you will join them in sharing thoughts and related work in their pursuit of common causes.
    • AAAS will be exploring the following themes:

      - Issues of Conscience – Week of April 13

  • MacGillivray Freeman: Educational Screeners - MacGillivray Freeman believes in not just telling people why they should care, but showing them, harnessing the power of great storytelling and stunning imagery to spark lasting changes in behaviors and attitudes. 
    • ​Ocean charities like Reef Check and other NGOs used screenings of Coral Reef Adventure to raise more than $250,000 for coral reef conservation
    • After seeing To the Arctic, 86% of the audience said it would impact their vote on environmental issues
    • Their Mission Aquarius campaign created international media attention, which helped drive new funding to keep the world’s last remaining underwater research station from closing
      ​They have free movies along with educational materials available to everyone. Did you hear that parents? Movies and educational materials for your kids - all for free! Check it out!
  • Wildlife Conservation Network: Virtual Spring Expo - At WCN, there is nothing more important to them than community. Therefore, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, they will no longer hold their April 25th Spring Expo in-person. However, Expo is not canceled. Instead of their usual in-person gathering, WCN is going virtual!
    “We think of Expo as a time for coming together, for connecting the amazing people who dedicate their lives to helping wildlife and those who so passionately support wildlife causes. We look forward to bringing this event that we love to even more people around the world.” - WCN
    They will be posting updates here about how you can be a part of Spring Expo day on April 25th.
  • WGBH: Distance Learning Center - As schools and students, families and educators adapt to the current health crisis, WGBH — in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and WGBY/New England Public Media — is supporting them by gathering some of our free, trusted digital resources from PBS LearningMedia and our award-winning educational preschool programming. PBS LearningMedia resources span disciplines for grades PreK-12, are aligned to national and state standards, and include videos, comprehensive lessons, and other activities. Take a look.
  • Lizzie Daly's Earth LIVE series - Tune into 20 minutes of daily earth lessons LIVE from around the world brought to you by some the most inspiring scientists, conservationists, wildlife filmmakers and more. The series started on 18th March 2020, and it is Broadcast LIVE every single day throughout March and April. Check it out!
