Colin Burrows

COLIN BURROWS is the director of the Turks and Caicos International Film Festival which he created to celebrate ocean and environmental film-making and which held its inaugural event in November 2019.

He began his broadcasting career at Cambridge University where he was the Programme Controller of Cambridge University Radio (now CamFM). He started as a producer at Capital Radio in the news and documentaries department then moved to Radio One as a producer.
He founded Special Treats Productions in 1987 while continuing to work for the BBC. The company produced series for Sky Television, Film Four and broadcasters worldwide and now includes Apple, Netflix and Amazon amongst its clients along with all the Hollywood majors, having worked on the Bond films for over 25 years, the HARRY POTTER films, LORD OF THE RINGS/THE HOBBIT etc.
The company also produces award-winning documentaries (TRUTH & LIES: The UB40 story, BBC. THIS IS POP, Sky Television etc) and is active in promoting diverse approaches to story telling.
London based, Colin works across the international film spectrum with a special interest in India. He is an international adviser to Federation of India’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Entertainment division and has executive produced six films in India.

He is co-founder, with Michael Ward, of Beautiful Bay Entertainment. Their first film as producers, BOMBAIRIYA was released by Sony Pictures India in January 2019 and is currently screening on Netflix.
They will remake THE FAR PAVILIONS in 2021 as a major TV series in India and he is also developing a large budget British film, R101, with Academy Award winning producer David Parfitt of Trademark Films

Colin is a long-standing member of the British Film and Television Academy and supporter of the UK Film & Television Charity. He is on the advisory board of the proposed Havering and Longcross Studios developments and also of the Cambridge based Storylab academic project. He is a mentor to students at St Johns College, Cambridge, who are interested in business careers
