Larissa Sousa

Associate Director for Educational Programmes, Gorongosa National Park – Mozambique
I am Larissa Sousa, working as the Manager for the Girls Education Program (Girls clubs) in Gorongosa National Park where we have the main objective of keeping girls in schools helping them to better their reading skills. Last July I was promoted to Associate Director of all Educational programms in under the Human Development Department. I was very happy to be invited to join the GRP team in 2017 to help change lives of many woman and girls around the buffer zone as well as raise awareness on conservation in general. I have been enjoying my work ever since, and now with an even bigger role to play.
I have a diverse educational background, I did my primary school (1st to 7th grade) in Chimoio where I learnt the national Mozambican curriculum, then I did my high school in Chiremera but changed into the Cambridge curriculum, which led me to do my Bachelors degree in International Business Administration in Finland. I just finished my Masters Degree in Business Administration following up Bachelor in business.
Prior to joining the Park, I worked in different places in Germany being mainly at Daimler-Benz as the person of contact for the PLS (ProductionLearningSystem) program between Germany and Brazil. And here in Mozambique I worked for the school called Centro Educacional Njerenje as the Assistant Administrator and as a Location Manager for the American Demining Project called The HALO Trust in Chimoio.
