About Judging for the 2026 Jackson Wild Media Awards

We are currently seeking preliminary judges for the 2026 Jackson Wild Media Awards. If you are currently working in the wildlife film, science, conservation industry and have an interest in sharing your expertise and have the flexibility to watch some films, we encourage you to apply.

As a judge for the 2026 Jackson Wild  Media Awards, you will have the exciting opportunity to review and evaluate some of the most inspiring and thought-provoking films in the nature and wildlife documentary genre. Your expertise and knowledge in this field will be critical in helping us identify the most exceptional films that will be celebrated.

This role requires expertise and experience in the film industry, specifically in the nature and wildlife documentary genre. You should have a deep understanding of the art and science of filmmaking, as well as a passion for conservation and the environment.

By joining our team as a judge, you will have the opportunity to engage with other industry professionals, learn about the latest trends and techniques in filmmaking, and play a critical role in shaping the future of the industry.

Judging Benefits

Jackson Wild is currently in the planning stages for hosting a 1-2 day industry event scheduled to take place in Los Angeles, California in early November. Preliminary judges will be extended invitations to participate, with the added benefit of receiving exclusive discounts on event passes.

  • Judges who commit to 5 hours or less will receive a complimentary Virtual Pass to this year’s Finalist Screening Room, where select finalist films will be available to watch on demand for a limited time.

  • Judges who commit to 5–20 hours per round will receive a discount on an in-person event pass equivalent to their total hours committed, up to a maximum of 40% off for 40 hours across both rounds of judging.

  • All judges will be acknowledged on the website and during the Awards Ceremony.

  • This November, Jackson Wild and Hollywood Climate Summit will host an industry event that brings together leaders, storytellers, and changemakers across wildlife, conservation, and climate storytelling. The event will culminate in a joint awards ceremony — celebrating both the Jackson Wild Media Awards and the Hollywood Climate Summit Awards — as the closing moment of the program. More details on programming, location, and how to attend will be announced soon.

  • Jackson Wild Media Awards judges will evaluate submissions within the traditional JWMA categories.

    However, a select group of JWMA judges with expertise in content creation, social media, impact campaigns, and branded content will be invited to join a combined judging pool alongside Hollywood Climate Summit Awards judges. This mixed panel will evaluate the four shared categories between the two programs.
