Sign-up required for all excursions, and will fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Excursion Day is included in 7-day, 6-day and 5-day passes, and if you purchased a Friday day pass.

Time in Motion
8am - 12pm and 2 - 5pm
Time Lapse cinematography has become a crucial part in much of the media we see today. Join film makers Dustin Kukuk and Noah Waldron as we explore the advancements, technology, and methods of modern time lapse cinematography. Participants will have a hands on opportunity to use motion control systems, explore camera settings, discuss post production workflow, and potentially shoot their own time lapses. We will have a few cameras and Kessler motion control systems available at the clinic, but if participants have their own cameras and tripods, they are encouraged to bring them.

Join professional RED cinematographers in the field for a day of shooting, learning and the inevitable creation of new stories. Get your hands on the same digital cinema technology that is currently being used on some of the biggest natural history projects on the planet. You will learn best practices on how to operate these top of the line RED cameras in rough and wild locations. You'll also learn tips and techniques from these experienced shooters, all while capturing some amazing footage of the local flora and fauna that the Grand Teton National Park has to offer.

Join Canon technical experts on a field excursion where you will get to handle and compare the C700 Full Frame, the C300mkII, and the C200 cinema cameras. On these cameras will be a multitude of Canon Cinema Lenses including the venerated 50-1000mm Cine Servo, the brand new 600mm F4 III, and a selection of our new Sumire cinema primes! We will also have an EOS-R, Canon’s Full Frame mirrorless SLR for you to test. Please bring your own media.

Jackson Hole Eco Tour Adventures AM Wildlife Safari
NOTE: This excursion leaves at 7 am from the Jackson Lake Lodge and returns at 11 am.
Join our partner Jackson Hole Eco Tour Adventures for a 4-hour sunrise tour of Grand Teton National Park with a knowledgeable and experienced guide. During the fall, they'll hit the back roads of Jackson Hole to escape the crowds and seek out our favorite hotspots for uninterrupted observation of wildlife, including moose, elk, bison, pronghorn antelope, mule deer, wolves, black bears, grizzly bears, bald eagles, and trumpeter swans.

Join Rendezvous River Sports on the Snake River for water sports fun! There will be an 8 person raft and several 2-person kayaks available for use. You will receive expert guidance and instruction on how to safely explore the beauty of Jackson Hole from a unique point of view - the middle of the Snake River! Look out for local wildlife that reside on the river such as bald eagles, beavers and moose. RRS will provide lifejackets and paddle suit and/or dry suits, but be sure to come wearing a warm base layer and proper footwear and maybe your water proof camera!

Within this excursion you will ride and operate the 6 axis gimbal from inside the decked out film truck and see how this unique piece of equipment can give you unparalleled access to scenic and wildlife shots. Limited room available.

The Lumix GH5 and new full-frame 6K S1H mirrorless cameras will also be available to try out.

Join expert tracker and wildlife filmmaker Casey Anderson in tracking local wildlife! Elk bugling, bear foraging, and raptor migration are a few of the behaviors you might document! You will learn the considerations and ethics when filming, and various approaches to consider while capturing behavior on film. This could include preparations like additional gear planning, safety in the field, etc. Get out and about in a fun and educational way, while building an appreciation for the nuances for what it takes to really get the shot!
