Natural History Artist, focused on wildlife storytelling through manual naturalist illustration, photography and filmmaking. Using art to support public outreach and environmental education for conservation programs in Costa Rica has been a constant throughout his career. His illustration work seeks to describe organisms with scientific accuracy to help visualize details, processes and structures that are not as evident at bare sight and this way, bring the viewer a little closer to the subject, especially when it is about an endangered species. As a 2023 National Geographic Explorer, Marco is developing his project Endemic Hope in which seeks to tell the story of a series of species distributed along Costa Rica, that due their uniqueness, they cannot be found anywhere else in the world. This effort aims to raise awareness and empathy among the local communities where these species coexist about their vulnerability to climate change and human disruption. https://www.marcomolinacreative.com/

Imogen Napper
Thank you Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation
Imogen Napper is a Marine Scientist and National Geographic Explorer. She has been described as a 'Plastic Detective' as her research investigates different sources of plastic pollution into the environment. Her work influenced legislation banning microbeads in facial scrubs, investigated how we are polluting the planet through washing and wearing our clothes, demonstrated that biodegradable plastics bags could still hold a full load of shopping after being submerged in the ocean after 3 years and found the highest microplastics on Earth near Mt. Everest summit. Additionally, she focusses on how plastic pollution is linked to other environmental issues. Her research shows how small changes can make a big difference and that larger environmental commitments are needed by industry and governments globally. Ms. Napper is now researching how we can use our knowledge from the mistakes and solutions used for management of the Ocean to protect Earth's orbit.
